I am from Northern Ireland and moved to Leeds in 1982 to study medicine at the University of Leeds. I have lived in Leeds since. I am married and have 2 children aged 19 and 22.
From 1994 to 2022 I was a full time GP Partner in Bradford for 27 years and I decided that now I am ready for the new challenge of a portfolio career. Also after working in one practice for so long it is very stimulating working in different practices with varied populations and set ups.
Since January 2023 I have been working as a GP Locum for surgeries in in Bradford, Harrogate and Leeds regularly returning to most practices. I have also gained considerable experience in General Practice Extended Access General, Paediatrics and Acute Respiratory Infections in Bradford and Harrogate. I am familiar with working with deprived populations and using interpreters for many languages and patients and have worked with asylum seekers and the homeless at Bevan House Bradford and it's sister practice in York Street Leeds. I have also worked for the Leeds and Bradford Special Allocations Service (Safe Haven). I also joined Diamond Medical Group Leeds as a Salaried GP for 2 days from August 2024.
In 2024 I have had very positive colleague 360 and patient feedback working as a locum so have this well in advance of my January 2028 revalidation.
I am an experienced GP, who has been involved in many facets of patient care, health care planning and technological advances, I have a great deal of experience to offer. I am experienced in QOF and chronic disease management and working in a multidisciplinary team.
I have full home NHS Health and Social Services Network (previously known as N3) access at home and have access to SystmOne and EMIS Web and am very familiar with Accurx and Patchs. I am well equipped for remote confidential audio and video consultations. I can also bring my own hardware and mobile broadband with both EE and O2 as a locum giving extra resilience to practices especially in the Bradford network which can have reliability issues. I use Heidi AI (Script AI) technology to enhance my consultations and provide concise and clear documentation and safety netting.
I am very active at keeping up to date / ahead with my mandatory training which can be shared via a 14Fish Link. I have already done the Tier 2 Oliver McGowan full day Autism and Learning Disability Training long before it will become mandatory for all clinical staff. I am on the DBS Annual Update Scheme.
